6th November 2018, in Rimini, Italy, six communities of the Interreg Med programme organized, in the frame of the ECOMONDO expo, the conference “Empowering territories for a Sustainable Mediterranean “. ALOT on behalf of Ecosustain attended this event.
The event created a space of debate and exchange on the approaches and results of the projects under these 6 thematic communities on how to improve the sustainability of the MED territories, which includes Green Growth, Blue Growth, Renewable Energy, Urban transports, Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity Protection, representing over 200 stakeholders from MED area: national, regional, local authorities, SMEs and professional associations, NGOs, consumers’ organizations, clusters, research and academia.
The session was structured into 3 discussion panels, dedicated to the following topics: “Innovation for sustainability in the MED Area”, “Circular Bioeconomy opportunities and challenges in the MED area” and “Governance, citizens awareness and participation for a Sustainable Mediterranean”.
The Interreg MED Programme gathers 13 European countries from the Northern shore of the Mediterranean, working together for a sustainable growth in the region. The Programme supports projects that develop innovative concepts and practices and promote the efficient use of resources in the territory. The Interreg MED Programme established 8 thematic communities, playing a strategic role in facilitating the sharing of results within thematic communities and the capitalization activities of the various projects funded by Interreg MED.
